Cedar Hill, Texas Community Guide

I love small communities where people still feel like neighbors, and Cedar Hill, Texas is one of those areas.

One of the great selling points about Cedar Hill is that while it may be a smaller town, it’s conveniently located just 16 miles southwest of Downtown Dallas, so you still have easy access to anything related to big-city living. So you can still benefit from all of the amenities of one of the largest cities in the country, while living in a town that maintains it’s laid back charm.

Cedar Hill is an extremely walkable town – one of the best in the area. Between Joe Pool lake, Cedar Hill State Park, the Audubon center, and Dogwood Canyon and the adjacent nature park, there’s over 32 parks, an entire system of greenbelts, and more than 36 miles of walking trails, and an app you can download to help you plan your visits to them all. I regularly drive to some of these trails just to walk and immerse myself in nature, it’s that beautiful.

People love the topography because of all of the hills (in an area of Texas that can otherwise be pretty flat), and because of this, mountain biking is a very popular activity.

The historic downtown area is being completely revitalized, with a mix of historic sites, good retail, and lots of planned events.

I regularly do my shopping at Hillside Village. There’s a variety of great restaurants as well.

For the sports enthusiasts, Tangleridge Golf Club is popular. And the local high school boasts state championship teams in football and basketball.

One of the hottest areas for home buyers is Lakeridge – a new home community with multiple custom home builders, and no home has a lot smaller than 1 acre, making Cedar Hill one of the best spots in the area to get a new home with land.

Plus, Cedar Hill has one of the best chiropractors you’ll find who has been practicing for over 18 years. I may be just a bit biased though, since he’s my husband.
