DeSoto, Texas Community Guide

I love DeSoto – it’s where our family lives. I love that it’s a small community where people still feel like neighbors. And, importantly, you still feel safe thanks to the super low crime rate.

It’s one of the few places in the DFW Metroplex where you can find homes on acreage yet still be in the middle of the city. Yet since it’s only 13 miles from downtown Dallas, you still have access to all of the big-city amenities without having to live right inside all of the big city congestion.

In 1847, DeSoto became one of the first Texas settlements, so there’s a lot of history here, and offers a rich range of cultural experiences.

DeSoto is growing, with new businesses moving in all of the time, and a new development planned. y

One of my favorite areas is the Windmill Hill Nature Preserve and the Roy Orr Trail, with some of the most scenic walking trails in the area. I still take walks every day. There’s also the Historic Nance Farm, providing a place for the arts and historical education.

DeSoto also has a city center that hosts concerts, community events, a recreation center, library – there’s always something going on for the community.

There’s also a strong hometown spirit, and support of our schools.

For sports enthusiasts, our school is home of state championship football and basketball teams. DeSoto is also homes to DeSoto BMX – America’s first covered facility for BMX racing and host of the BMX USA Super Nationals. And DeSoto’s public golf club was named one of the most challenging courses in the area by Dallas Business Journal.

If my hometown sounds as interesting to you as it is to me, give me a call and let’s find your dream home here.
